Ute Basics

The Ute tribe of Native Americans is pretty cool. They’re not a necessarily huge tribe, but they do have a lot going for them, they even have a website detailing all about themselves!

On their website, they mention that they have over 2,970 members, and likely more since this info was last updated in 2013. Despite only having this many members, they control over 1.3 million acres of trust land across Northeastern Utah, which is where they are located. On their reservation, they own all sorts of businesses, such as super markets, bowling alleys, farms, and even some bigger ones such as Ute Tribal Enterprises LLC. It shows that they’re a pretty active and adaptive community who are self-sufficient, which is awesome to hear about.

Their location in Utah is quite impressive if you can appreciate the beauty. The Uintah Basin isn’t exactly as lush and green as a place like Washington state, but it has stunning views from angles upon the many hills/mountains. The Ute tribe is located East of Salt Lake City, so it isn’t even all that out of the way to get to! Their website details this and more about the tribe, but if you needed to find the way to get there, you could always look for a map online.

All the information found for this post came from their website “http://www.utetribe.com/“, there you can find even more information about the tribe, such as all the various departments of government they have, what job openings are available, and even the text of the news on their radio station!
